Ekko-Miester Production Capabilities

Requirements

Product: Thrust bearing in a compact design

Customer: Italian player in the global coffee machine industry
Application: Fully automatic coffee machines for private households
Function Product: Brewing and unloading of the coffee grounds. Mechanical movement of the brewing unit and absorption of the axial load exerted on the carrier components via a leadscrew.
Specialty: long life of > 35k cycles (equivalent to approx. 10 years of high coffee consumption)
Annual volume: 8 million parts

Chosen solution

Solution: A compact thrust bearing with grooved washer and precise balls made of 100CR6 bearing steel, assembled by Ekko-Meister. The plastic cage is made of reinforced PA66.

The initial solution with 3 individual parts was re-designed by Ekko-Meister into an assembled unit. This not only eliminated the faulty manual assembly on the customer’s assembly line.
The economic efficiency was also greatly increased.

The compact bearing is manufactured, assembled, greased (lifetime lubrication) and 100% tested by us.

Requirements

Product: Plastic connector with ultrasonically welded, coated metal contacts

Customer: Leading manufacturer for components in pressure measurement technology
Application: Sensors that are used in kitchen appliances for example
Function Product: Connector including pressure and flow sensor
Specialty: cutting function of the coated metal pins > 90N / ultrasonically welded assembly
Annual volume: 2 million pieces

Chosen solution

Solution: Connector made of special PARA GF50 with an external thread. Metal pins made of CuSn6 with Ni + Sn coating.

When the connector is inserted into the device, the metal pins cut the stranded wire, guaranteeing a perfect contact.
This applies a great deal of force on the pins, which must not bend.

The assembly is made using ultrasonic welding on our assembly line, which was developed and built in-house.
This project is a co-development from prototyping to series production.

Product: Plastic belt pulley with mounted groove bearing

Customer: Swiss premium coffee machine manufacturer
Application: Professional fully automatic coffee machines for gastronomy, business, and hotel use
Function Product: Part of a mechatronic unit that moves the brewing unit via a steep thread spindle
Specialty: The coffee machine is designed to produce the highest possible volume of coffee while maintaining a high level of quality
Annual volume: 20,000 units

Chosen solution

Solution: The customer chose a plastic gear with internal thread made of a POM-C material and an assembly of 2 stainless grooved bearings 2RS.

This guarantees a flawless functional performance. Even in a hot and humid environment such as steam.
